  • Acting on feedback. Piktr release #5

Today I am happy to announce that the first major update to Piktr has passed certification and should be on the Windows Store soon.

I’ve taken every bit of feedback into consideration when engineering this new release and I believe I’ve made Piktr competitive with the top Instagram apps on the Store now.

The response from people who are using Piktr everyday has been phenomenal and I thank everyone who’s taken the time to email me suggestions and leave reviews.

Signing into Piktr is quick and easy.

I’ve clarified the situation around New Account registration and linked to Instagram’s support page. Hopefully this cuts down on the amount of user confusion.

    Authentication is handled securely.

    Signing In.

Piktr’s sign in process is simple and secure. You are authenticated securely with Instagram. Your password is never stored by Piktr.

    Main UI

In this release Piktr has had an overhaul of its user interface. There has been a fierce reduction in the amount of visual distractions while browsing photos. Various little glitches have been fixed which should make for a more pleasing experience.

With just one tap, your comments open inline and you can read them with ease. When you’re done, just tap the picture again to hide the comments. Its that simple.

    Profile UI

This visual refresh extends to the user UI as well. You can easily view a user’s profile page and see all the relevant information at a glance. I’ve adapted uniform horizontal scrolling for consistency and to maximize screen real estate.

    Search UI

Piktr is integrated into Windows 8. With secondary tile pinning and search charm integration, Piktr feels right at home with your other apps.
